-6042 Errors

I keep getting -6042 errors (pci bus too busy) with my Digi 001 system > on my 8600/Newer g3 (400/200).I have a 9 gig Barracuda (internal) and a > Glyph 9 gig (external) attached to a Adaptec 2940uw.I lowered the > transfer rate in the power domain panel down to 10 mb/s as Digi > recommanded,but I still get -6042 errors.Is there a workaround to this > problem or I'm I missing something here. > > Thanks > Rob

I'm getting the same problem .. I on a G3 using an external 9GB Glyph hard drive as well ..

I experience the same problems. I have a G4 350 AGP wit 320Mg and 18.2 UW 10,000 RPM drive. It gets worse and worse. I can't even cut a single track now. Machine is used for nothing else.

are you running other applications like any type of sequencing software, or have you switched on you quicktime music (in oms setup). i have the same problem when these are running, problems gone with removing these "bugs".

Find out the power rating of ALL PCI cards installed,you may need to lower transfer rate of SCSI card as suggested, although I can almost be certain that the power of cards is not matched and therefore may not be supported configuration under logic board that your using( unfortunately limited to factory specs). Check Apple Tech Info Library or the 8600 manual it is in there, it gives best usage of PCI logic board bus power. I know that in my G4 400, 001 and a SCSI 2940 eats most of avail power leaving my capture card almost permanently in a static bag. Would be nice if PCI support was taken alittle more seriously by Apple considering they now claim to do Video(only DV) as a core market. And what a huge range of firewire audio and video interfaces there is.......
