Monitor Volume Control Defect???

I tried switching the outputs to the speakers and the problem was moved to the right instead of the left, thus indicating the speakers are not the problem at all. It is the pan pot on the Digi001 as confessed by Digi on another post. They just use cheap pan pots on these units, we just have to get used to it I guess. Richard

Would you like them to use the expensive ones stated in the other post? It would increase the price of the DIGI001 alot. How much do you want to pay for a DIGI001?

Last time I used the Mackies was on a TDM system,and it had this problem too,the left speaker would be the first on and the last off .We couldnt ever track down or solve the problem,there is an input sensitivity adjustment knobbie on the back of the Mackies,have you tried that?

I have the same EXAXT problem. I just got my unit yesterday, and this is the very first thing that I noticed. The difference in levels is insane, easily 18db. I have to balance with the pan pots in my Mackie on the return channel a lot. This is not a matter of digidesign spending more money on "expensive" pots, but simply having a product which doesn't misfunction right out of the box. This is not professional at all. What did I end up doing? I made a couple posts to find out how widespread the problem is. I just returned from a friend who also recently bought 001 and gave his a test. His did the SAME thing, though it was not as noticable possibly because of the cheap computer speakers he is monitoring with. Question: Is it always the left channel for everyone that comes on first with the gain and goes off last with attenuation? It is more noticeable when I have been at the 9:00 position and slowly turn the volume down. The right speaker very noticably cuts out. The guy I bought it from at Guitar Center said he was going to call digi. I have also emailed direct and have not received and answer - it is the weekend you know! So I am confused at to what to do. Some say this is the nature of the cheap pots, get used to it and find ways to beat the flaw. Others seem as upset about it as I was. I will post here the response I got on the 001 Mac site. Richard
