Dell it the top pc retailer in the country, and you can get sweet dells through different sites - ex. Dell Dimension 4700, P4 2.8, 256 DDR2 ram, 40gb drive, win xp, ethernet card,, cd-r etc for $499 through xpbargains. That's very hard to beat. However, almost all dell desktops (the 4700 series and the 8400 series which are the most popular) carry the 915 or 925 chipset or some variation of it (915E etc). So what's a Pro Tools user to do? Digi, please give this some attention! Many users are ready to switch from Macs to PC's because pc's perform so well. Some of us just want to upgrade, and some pc users want to switch over from Logic or Cubase. Don't alienate the largest PC retailer in the country!! Any follow up posts are welcome. SG

Dell co-sponsored the Digidesign display at NAMM... so I'm sure the two companies would like for their products to be as compatible as possible. Processor changes can cause weird compiler issues though.. especially with a program as large as Pro Tools.. and you're working directly with assembler. Rail
Wow, I didn't realize that all these Intel 915/925 motherboards are the cause of 6086 error. Is it something related to Digi software that conflicts with Intel hardware? Or is Intel also having issues with other audio manufacturers?
For whats it's worth, I have been running 6.4 using the 915g chipset with an 002 for months now with no real issues. I think it has more to do with the MBOX and the inability for the USB ports to supply enough power. Firewire seems to have no real problems.
