Propshaft

Hi all, I want to renew the propshaft and centre bearing on my 88 auto GLT. There is currently an 86 Auto GLE in my local scrapyard and I was wondering whether the propshaft is going to be the same. I cant really be without my car so wanted to get ithe other prop renewed and then swap it over. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks Ian

It is likely ot be the same - just visually check the diameters are the same - also make sure the bolt spacings either end are the same. You can never be 100% certain even with same model and age. Mike

Hi Ian, If the GLE in the Scrap yard had the AW70 (3 speed with overdrive) Auto box fiitted, it should be the same prop as yours. The BW55 Auto box was still found in 1986 models, which is 3 speed only and is a shorter box, hence the prop would be longer and different to yours. hope this is useful to you, Bob
