hi, let me explain my problem. Had WinXP and Win98/ME and NO problems with any DivX codec or Movie. Some weeks ago i changed to Win2k Professional and then the trouble begins. Clean installation no DivX was installet yet. So i installed the DivX 5.0.3 Bundle. Loaded some old DivX Movie (coded with 3.11 or 4) and the movie has been fucked off. Pixel errors, bad quality, unsynch. Bur I remenberd the movie as a good quality movie. So deinstalled the DivX Bundle. Installed the DivX4Fullinstaller Codec. Same result!!. Finally I installed the old DivX3.11 codec and everything works fine!! Some days ago i've got some Movies. New and older ones. The new ones (coded with DivX 5) could not be played... So i decided to Install the DivX5.0.3Bundle again but now some movies have no sound and the old ones had the errors again. But i saw the same movies at my friend without any Problems (WinXP, DivX5bundle installed). So what's the fu***** problem?? The OS? (win2k pro) The codec? movies? can't be i saw them and they were best quality. Has anyone the same problem? or solution for that?? PS: avi movies some probs but mpeg i can't even play!!! thx Banana

uninstall all the codecs related to audio/video. then only reinstall the ones you need. if you want an all-in-one video solution, use ffdshow for playback. it decodes all MPEG4 content (DivX 3/4/5). it's not the OS, it's all the codecs you have had or have now installed on it. even though it says you've uninstalled something, there are always traces left in the registry that can mess with future installs. clean up your system, and tell us how it goes (a fresh install on a formatted drive would be best, especially if you upgraded from 98/ME to 2K....usually only causes problems).

hmm ok, so how i get rid of all the codec's. Just deinstall them would not solve it right? Is there any "cleaner" around there?? And what is ffdshow? Do i need to install the codecs or does this ffdshow? If no what would be the best package of codecs to view all the DivX 3/4/5 Movies? I've not updated my System. It was clean install on a formatted HD. So this could not be the problem.. Thx for help.
