I have used imgtool successfully a few times, but now it seems to be creating a corrupt image. I burned two coasters before determining this. I have a movie with vts_01_X thru vts_18_2.VOB. If I include every file except vts_18_2.vob, the image is fine, which I can verify by mounting it with DAEMON tools and doing a binary check. When I add that last file vts_18_2.vob, the image is corrupt! Not just randomly. It seems the first 2048 bytes are missing from the image. Does this sound familiar to anyone else, or am I just losing my mind?
I have now replaced the file VTS_18_2.VOB and removed a different file, with successful results. So, my theory is that imgtool has a limit of 74 files. When I add that 75th file, I have a corrupt image.
Okay, interesting. I have just encountered an image problem this last week. The following are the steps I have taken to get to this problem. All I want to do is to keep the main movie and menu and all the subs and audio. No special features. 1. Rip using DVDdecrypter. 2. Main movie file is in VTS6. So I open up VTS6 ifo with IFOEDIT, I don't check create new IFO's. 3. I get all the VTS6 vobs in a new folder, copy the VIDEO_TS files and the menu VOBS to the folder where the VTS6VOBS reside. 4. Get VTS SEctors 5. Play with IFOEDIT to make sure it's working fine. Plays fine all the way to the end. 6. Close IFOEDIT 7. Open IFOEDIT and select disc image and it only creates a 250,000 byte image. Any ideas?
Sounds like you don't have vts1-5 in that folder. No way in hell imgtool is going to be able to create a valid image from that, since it's waaaaay outside of dvd spec! Secondly, even if you somehow get that burned to dvdr, it wont play in a settop. Many have experienced this by thinking they could just eliminate vtses.
Sorry, I missed that part. I copied the VTS1 sets. They were there. Trust me, I've done abou 40 DVD's using the same method and never had that problem until recently. The last three movies I've tried have come up with the same message. Tried re-installing imgtool to no avail.
Ahh OK. Interesting problem. I've seen other issues where the .ifo files were empty in the final image.. stuff like that. Apparently imgtool isnt bugproof. If you look around in this forum, you'll see numerous other postings of people that had issues with it, especially with Gear. What happens if you transfer the VIDEO_TS folder to the root of a different hard drive and then run imgtool from there? Same thing?
Hey Eyes, I think I might have found the problem. This is from another post "Here's somthing I found with the IfoEdit image creation tool. The VTS numbers must be consecutive. For example on Star Wars, I tried to create an image just using VTS_01, VTS_02, VTS_05, VTS_06. The image creation tool stopped building the image after VTS_02. So, I had to rename VTS_05 and VTS_06 to VTS_03 and VTS_04. No big deal renaming them, but the fun part is now you have to modify video_ts.ifo to reference the renamed title sets. You may also need to modify VTS_xx_0.ifo in case one of the menu's has a jump to a particular title set. Now when I create the image, all VTS's are included in the image file. An easy way to check if you having this problem is to make sure the .img file is as big as all your source files combined." If you look at my post, the movie was in VTS6 and menus in VTS1. I had them included in the folder but did not have VTS2,3,4,5 at least the VOBS anyway. I will test this later and see if it works for me. Still interesting though.
Okay folks, that was the problem. All I did was copy over the original VTS2,3,4 and 5 VOBS as well as the menu VOBS did get VTS sectors and bingo. Image created in full. Hope this helps anyone else having that problem.
LOL!LOL!LOL! :-) Well I'll be damned. Hehehe. Thanks EYE, sometimes you look at the post and read it but not READ it if you know what I mean. I just caught the VTS1 part and not the VTS1-5. Thanks bro!
