anyone use garritan personal orchestra?

i'm thinking of getting it, but i would first like some advise from all of you users out there. does it work well as a plugin with protools? will it run ok on my PB 1.5? any other advise or comparable sound sets for the price? I can't afford vienna or any of those massive collections. i would love some input, thanks. PS: i'm running PTLE 6.9 on a PB1.5 os10.3.9 1G ram......

I can get about 8 voices on my set-up with GPO as an RTAS Plug in. Using the internal sound on my Mac and Digital Performer I can get about 20. As Solitan mentioned there is a problem either with the NI or Digidesign architecture that makes it perform very poorly. SUPPOSEDLY, there has been some changes made in PT 6.9 and the latest Native Instruments offerings that is going to solve this once and for all, but Gary Garritan keeps saying, "It is coming, it is coming!" but that has been for about a year. I don't think it is his fault. As far as I know it is Native Instruments that spends 98% of it's resources on bringing products to the market, and 2% maintaining and upgrading them. You'll find many a pissed of NI user about lack of technical support.

I use GPO on a G4 933 Mhz 1,5 GB RAM. PTLE 6.4. Mbox. OSX 10.3.9 It's okay. I use it basically for solo grand piano, getting about 30 voices on 1024 samples buffer. Takes some time getting used to playing with that latency though... Avoid using the GPO-reverb. It sounds good but takes a LOT of CPU. I use the Digiverb during recording, then Altiverb when I have the (dry) GPO-audio files. Small orchestras are fine but for any larger arrangements I have to use Cubase (any) and then export the audiofiles into PT. I really hope they'll solve this at NI!
