Just got my BCF and need help setting it up!

The easiest way (unless you immediately want to get into some more sophisticated control) is probably to set the BCF to Sonar mode (per its instructions) and set Reaper to Mackie mode. You'll have faders connected to Reaper's volume faders, mute buttons and per-channel pan knobs. Personally I've never needed more than that.

Ben's post(above)has a nice collection of related post. That is where I would start. This is what I have set up as my default. Pre-set #1 channels 1-8,faders,mute,solo and play/stop rec and pause. Pre-set #2 channels 9-16 (same as above) Pre-set #3 channels 17-24(same as above) I also rigged up a foot pedal for record punch-in/out but found the Reaper method more smoother. Bardo

I also set mine up in Mackie mode. But I started out like you and did not want to change what I had done. What's cool is once you are done you can forget about it.(which,obviously I have forgotten how I set it up) I'm pretty sure there is a way to save preset 1 into preset 2. Can't you just pull up preset 1 then press save into preset 2? Pretty sure there was somthing in the manual about that. I'll check into it. Bardo

i would say that post 20#sounds like the half n half method you have started with, if u weren't sure, the info on mackie mode is handy bardo, may link to that from the collection thread. :) if, guitarkeys ,you still want a run down in bcmanager i will try, have been reluctant as is quite difficult to explain also without loads of pics etc. and u should be able to get to grips if u dive on in there. but tbh starting it up, and clicking the 'blue with red bits icons'(1)+(2), should get you to the pic window with the assignments as they are now, the menus show the copy and paste options (3), and you can move to preset2 etc. from there (other line). then in one of the menus there is send data option (line pointing to 'midi') to send changes to the unit. (btw this pic is blank as no bcf is connected). if/when you get preset 2 to be midi channel 2 then yes assigning in reaper is needed to finish off. if Bardo has sorted you out with mcu mode, thats cool!. and yes that way is bankable for >8 tracks.

Thanks everyone, I finally got setup. I ended up enabling input under control surfaces and then I was able to use the learn function on the bcf to get sending and receiving for extra faders. However, I don't know if i am going to be missing any functionality by not enabling input under midi devices. Any thoughts?

no sysex 

hi guys ! new guy here posting its first thing unfortunately i have found no way to make my BCR2000 send continuous sysex data i even tried Royce Craven's trick, of changing the hex field of the hex sysex by "val" : no luck my BCR2000 sends the sysex data, but only two discrete values (in my case 0 and 2) has anyone had any luck getting BCR (or BCF) to send continuous sysex data ? if not, i'll have to switch to Novation's Zero SL, a lot less sexy piece of gear cheers.

narcissus, not sure on the continuous sysex am afraid - just for neatness and new users more than anything, on the original thread with the various setup instructions i've recently added a **bcf2000 presets file** that has all the necessary midi channel changes all done ready-to-go for bcf mode feedback and banking, and is also already setup to produce midi data upon preset selection change (e.g when you press the preset change button) - just send it to the unit... see posts for link: and also see same thread post #40. have tried to put links in most related posts so is easily found. so e.g guitarkeys, sending that sysex preset to the unit saves any messing about with bcmanager (prob bit late now!) then just a matter of setting reaper in the right manner as in the above linked posts.
