Ok I got it working! Used the half and half method. Got it sending and receiving on tracks 1-8. Set up mute, solo, and pan. Now the problem is contolling many tracks beyond 1-8, eg. 9-16 etc. I read the other thread but im still confused how to set this up. Something to do with bc manager and changing presets but thats confusing to me. Any help or simplified explantation would be great! Thanks in advance.
glad u got it going; quote from other thread with edited explanation: more than 8 tracks of control (banking): ---------- currently your bcf is on preset 1 (the default). you want to set it up so preset 2 is the same ( a copy ) as preset 1 EXCEPT the cc's go out on midi channel 2 instead of channel 1 (at least for the controls you wish to be bankable). preset 3 should be set to midi channel 3 etc. etc. easiest way to do that is by the using the bcmanager app. THEN by changing **size tweak** in REAPER prefs - control surfaces, to eg. 24, (AND then assigning the new preset 2,3 etc. cc msgs some more in actions) you will then have control and feedback for 24 tracks (or more)- yay. hope that helps. i may edit my post that explains to be bit clearer.
ah ok. the bit of software that comes from behringer may do it but is more of a pain tha bcmanager i think!. its worth perservering with bcmanager, reading the help/manual as its pretty good - it does appear odd at first but its worth some time fiddling around with it. not got time to go into detail as way past my bedtime (4.30am) but if you can get the graphic up on bcmanager that looks like the bcf with preset number top right etc. clicking on the fader1 for example will then allow you to change the midi channel - then there is 'send modified' in one of the menus to send that change to the unit.
ah man, now I cant get it to control my software faders. I went screwing with it trying to set up control for faders on tracks 9-16 and now its screwed up. I am using the bcedit program. Nothing has changed except I tried to do some stuff in that program and now it wont work. Could someone please give me step by step explanation of how to set this up. Is it really that hard to set up control for faders 9-16!? I know it has to do with assigning channels to a new preset but I really need a walkthrough on how to set this up.
Ok,have you figuired out the learn function yet? "Push the learn button on the BCF" "move slider, pod or button on the BCF' "move the soft fader, pan or button on the screen" You should get a response in your BCF LED read out. Don't forget to save! That BCedit got me all messed up myself. I did it all by using the learn function. Let me know if you are still having probs. Bardo
Ok I got the first 8 faders working again. The learn function did help. Here's what I was doing following your instructions. I went to preset 2, pressed the learn button, and then moved the first fader. Then I moved the 9th software fader. I got feedback on by bcf(the fader moved) but no movement on the 9th software fader. Am I doing something wrong?
No,looks like you are on the right track. You can also use the "ACTION"window in Reaper(pull down menu at the top) I use the "action"menu to clear up "cc"conflicts. I had a problem with some of the tracks mute button was another tracks arm button. Bardo
