Hi There seems to be a problem in a movie (DivX) I have. Theres nothing wrong if I just play the avi file, but in VirtualDub I can't make a wav file from the Avi in Full Processing mode, but I can in Direct Stream Mode (thought the time isn't quite correct). If I make a VCD directly from the Avi the audio is gone after 10 min. Any ideas on how ro repair the sound in the Avi. And another thing. If I get the audio converted to a Wav file, can I use Wav source in DVD2SVCD and how? Or do I have to re-encode the avi in VirtualDub using Wav source? /Potter

Sorry I can't offer help on your first question, but in regard to the second, I do no know of a way that you can use a .wav audio source in dvd2svcd. You'll have to use a muxed .avi source, meaning that if you can ever demux the audio and video successfully, you'll need to remux them in order to have both audio and video in the .avi. Hope that helps :)

First Question: Is the audio a VBR stream? If it is then this may be your problem. Second Question: If you can get the audio into .wav format, then you can time stretch, pitch shift, etc. in your favorite sound editor (Cool Edit Pro, Sound Forge, etc.) to get the correct time. Once you have the time on the .wav correct then do the following: 1. Launch AVI2SVCD (DVD2SVCD) and select the .avi to convert. 2. MAKE SURE that you select the radio button next to "Edit as part of video encoding" on the Frameserver tab. This will give you time to encode your .wav file to .mp2 before video encoding starts. 3. Set any other options and start the conversion. 4. When the edit AviSync Script box pops up, minimize it. Launch BeSweet gui (Besweet comes with DVD2SVCD so just download the GUI) 5. Hit the 2Lame button. 6. Select your .wav file that you fixed. 7. for the .mp2 file, browse to the directory where DVD2SVCD is storing all of the temporary files and select the file named Encoded_Audio_1.mp2 8. Select "Stereo" from Encoding Mode drop menu 9. Type in 224 for total bitrate. 10. Hit the blue "Wave to MP2" button. When the .mp2 encoding is done, return to DVD2SVCD and click the button to confirm the Avisynth script or edit the script and then continue. Video encoding will start and you should wind up with a perfect SVCD.

Hi- To get the audio out of the .avi, first get , and point it to the movie to find out what's really in there. As moon1234 says, it's probably VBR MP3. Then open the .avi in Nandub, set both Video and Audio to Direct Stream Copy, and then go File-Save WAV. When done, rename the extension correctly (.mp3 or .ac3 most likely). If you need to, convert it to .wav with HeadAC3he or BeSweet, and follow the earlier instructions from there. And there's probably nothing wrong with the length of the audio. Many players come up with the wrong length when it's VBR. It was in synch when inside the .avi, wasn't it?

This means that the directshow filter for decoding the audio is either missing or id buggy. I would suggest that you download a different mp3 filter such as the hacked Fraunhaufer filter or the Lame filter. -Moon1234 A good reboot never hurts either.
