Does the standard Volvo head unit HUD-605 (I think?!) have a standard type aerial socket on the back, the same as every other aerial out there? I'm about to hook in an IPod adapter which used the aerial as the input and output and don't want to start if I haven't got all the bits... Any advice appreciated! Also... is the cigar lighter an always active 12V wire? I want a switched 12V so the unit will turn itself off with the ignition.
Hi, A standard ariel plug will fit into the Volvo units. No big deal sliding the unit out to check though.. :) The "Cigar" or 12v socket is not a permanent live. There is a permanent live to the head unit though, to retain the memory and code. Des. . . ;)
Thanks for that. I was sitting in the car the other day, no keys in the ignition and pressed the lighter down to test. It popped up and was hot. I assume it comes live with the interior light then? It easier for me to use the cigar lighter as it closer, but thought from my test it was always live... Are you sure its a switched line?
There's a switched 12v wire at the back of the stereo, if you locate that with a multimeter you can run the satnav cradle off of that. Comes on and off with the key. Tis a project I've yet to do in this car but worked fine on everything else I've had, other than a 20 year old VW Polo.
