What is so bad about Pro Tools\' midi?

I keep hearing that Pro Tools' midi side is not as good as Cubase's or some of the other sequencers. I am interested in hearing what the difference is? Is it basic functions or just high end stuff that most people need not worry about. I do a lot of midi and am looking to maybe but a digi 001 but am curious to hear about people's midi experiences.

Pro Tools MIDI isn't bad. It's just premature . On PC there is no patch names solution so you only have banks and numbers without any name of the patch. No Arp's or any MIDI algorhitms. It's fine for quantizing, pianorolling and simple midi solutions but it's not enough for MIDI users. Solution I learnt from a major studios I've been in is simply to put one slow computer with old cubase or something and one PT Workstation and do all midi on one and simply sync them together and record midi to stereo pairs of each synth. OK, MIDI is a con. However, Pro of Pro Tools is audio.

My needs are probably somewhat unique, but I use Midisoft Studio because it is the only sequencer I know of that allows input by placing notes on the music staff as though you were composing on paper. I don't play keyboards and although this method is slow, it gets the job done. I do import the MIDI file to PT to take advantage of the randomize feature. I really think it comes down to using what you find easiest to use for you. I almost exclusively record myself, but if I was recording a real keyboardist, I'd probably just use PT.

Staff?!? It's really hard and usually when doing midi you're looking for some sort of a groove. when simply writing it you lose most of the liveness of the midi. Today on most instruments you can add MIDI. Woodwinds, Guitars, Keyboards , Drums(Pad Based).
