what brand do you guys use? roland/korg....etc? Do you guys use the rhythm preload in the synthesizer? sorry for a little bit out of question in this forum, but newbie i am in composing music.
My synths: - E-mu Proteus 2000 (w/Composer/Techno/X-Lead/World expansion ROMs) - Kawai K5000S - Yamaha AN1x - Roland JP-8080 (actually, just sold it) All percussion plays from the Proteus 2000 (obviously sequenced by myself in Pro Tools, not from preset patterns). By the way, what musical style(s) are you interested in? That can have a heavy influence on the ideal synth choice. No point suggesting a banjo to a grunge player. I also agree with the notion to check out Reason 2.0. It presents such a brilliant integration of synths, samplers, and sequencer within your Mac/PC for a fraction of the cost of an equivalent hardware set-up. Phil
I use a Roland JV-90, Lots of nice built in sounds and effects and nice instrument voices. I am picking up a Yamaha DGX-300 which has over 620 built in voices and built in DSP which makes the sound coming out so clean. It depends on what you need and how much you are willing to spend.
The karma is tight....wish I had one. But just like what everyone is saying.....what type of music are you producing, how are you recording it (audio/midi/both)....what exactly do you need the board to do? I would do more research/reading before making a $1500 mistake. I made a mistake on the very first ($1500) piece I bought so I know. Now I understand what/why people were asking me over & over again...."what are you trying to do". If you dont know exactly what you are trying to do or cant verbalize it keep reading.
