Yeah I can do outboard processing all day, but sometimes things like mic modelers and other effect plugins that you don't want to have to put on every track should be able to be recoded live and effortless. Take Acustica Nebula for instance, I have a few chain presets that I use in some other daw for vocal processing before recording, it would be hell to use those chains on "every track"(live) and and aggravatingly tedious to have to apply those chains destructively afterwards.

you can do it with minimal inconvenience - i think: create your 'fx track' with appropriate fx on etc. - set it to input monitoring only (disable output) - in IO, goto 'add send' select 'send to all tracks' and untick 'send to parent/master'. you may want to mute all the sends till needed. saving that fx track as a track template works fine, you'd only need to re-do the 'send to all tracks' and optional muting if you load it into another project. in use you'd select your required hardware input on both the fx track and the record track, ( and unmuting the send to the record track if it was muted) the recording will then have the fx on input, but will be recorded dry onto the appropriate track, if all goes to plan. not something i ever do but was sure it was doable. [edit] sws extension has mute / untmute sends of selected track actions, and shift-clicking on send in the mixer mutes/unmutes them too, so you need not go into the IO window to do that, as that seemed the only inconvenience to me.

well thanks for the reply, but that was what i was trying to explain in my first post. I want the effects on the input to actually print(record). So I actually use the recor..............WOW!!!!. Hold the F**kin presses!!! ReaRoute!!! Im F**kin sold. I just... 1. Routed my live input(Mic/Keyboard) into Reaper... 2. "ReaRoute(ed)" ch-1/2 of the input channel out of Reaper into a Vsthost(FLStudio for testing)... 3. Chose ReaRoute as the Asio Driver in FLStudio(or any vsthost)... 4. Opened the FLStudio Mixer, Chose ReaRoute Input Channels 1/2... 5. Inserted my FX's(via FLStudio mixer)... 6. ReaRout(ed) out from FLStudio(Via Rearoute asio Channels 1/2) or mono... 7. Inserted a new channel in Reaper... 8. For the Input of that Channel...I chose ReaRoute ch-1/2... 9. Bam!!! Live input effects on dope! All at the latency of my M-Audio Delta card(via Reaper)..."6ms(256 samples)"!!!!! This is pure crack!!! Cubase can kiss my Skinny Narrow A**!! nuff said.

cool, glad you got a solution, didn't realise you wanted them recorded with fx printed :) : to do that you'd just select record - output on the 'record track' record settings, instead of input, then the fx get recorded onto the track. or use a neat rearoute setup, function is what matters! you will find Reaper can usually play ball whatever you want it to do, just got to tinker.
