Hi guys, I've been reading the REAPER 3.01 slower than 2.58 thread () and this seems to have some crossovers with my question, but I think mine is a bit different... I've noticed that in 3.03 the transport esp. the Play button is very slow to respond on my music computer (AT LEAST a second delay before a song plays), even though the machine happily runs Cubase4 without any difficulties. Strangely 3.03 runs far more responsively on my rubbishy laptop. I've tried installing 2.58 instead on the music PC but this doesn't solve the problem, so I don't think its anything to do with 3.03 being more CPU hungry. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could cause this and how I could resolve it? Thanks alot, BJ

Do you have any control surfaces enabled, or Reaper extensions, or anything else that may be listening for the transport click in order to do something?
might not be your issue, but I had similar problems with my old audio interface (presonus) and it came down to drivers. It did get fixed with later driver updates. Does it just sit there, or does anything flash? I used to get the audio interface settings in the top right flashing for a bit before it started.

Two possible solutions a) load the SynthEdit plugins in a wrapper, e.g. energyXT VSTi b) turn on the Preference "Don't flush synthesiser plug-ins on stop" --------- Which VST(i)s are in your problem project? Check their folders on disk - you may well see some sub-folders contaiing .sem or .sep files - that's an indication of SynthEdit plugins.
DarkStar, why didn't you say it before? :))) I've searched the forum, and there were no sollutions. "Don't flush synthesiser plug-ins on stop" works, but will it bring some troubles when it is checked?

Ah, ok. The plugs I was using are 4Front piano and Addictive Drums. I don't know if 4front is synthedit or not. I'll try loading something that definately isn't and see wha happens, and I'll try the same on my laptop too where there isn't a problem. Thanks for your suggestions so far! BJ
