ok so iv just mic recorded a fairly complex finger picked arpeggio sequence on acoustic guitar and one particular string (open g)is coming through too loud and bright. in the end its the guitar really, and in normal play its not a noticable thing, but recorded its just too prominant. other than finding another guitar to record with, can anyone suggest a fix? iv tried realeq and reafir but it ends up changg the rest of the sound too much..ive tried getting the width of frequency down as much as poss.. anyone aware of any other solutions..? would be much appreciated
Yes a multi-band compressor may work. If it is just one specific note or open string, then you can look on a table to find the freq of the note and eq it. If you happen to own Melodyne Editor (haha yeah right) then you can now modify polyphonic instruments to get the effect you are looking for.
The first thing I would do is check out the wave form, if it's just louder it should show up there. If you can't see it you should still be able to isolate it by just listening to it. Next I'd put a volume envelope on it. At this point I would use a clip volume: Right click on the item then: Take>Take volume envelope. That will leave your main volume envelope for mixing. Tod
