Winder mechanisms.... Just finishing up replacing my drivers quarterlight, I then went on to replace the window scraper rubbers, all went reasonably well but it started to get dark so I decided to leave the passenger door till another day. (I have to work on the street because my garage is full of other projects..) Gathered up my tools, put everything away and shut the passenger door..........CLUNK...and the window disappeared into the door!!! Just got it back together after an hour of struggling in the dark after managing to smash my inspection lamp.....Why on earth did they make them so complicated !!! I'll fix the trim back in tomorrow. Cheers Gerry
I invested in a wee special tool for the omega clips, what a difference! Think my chain was also twisted for the first few tries and I did tighten up when I eventually got all the wires\chains in the right place.....I'll go back out and check the tension tomorrow. Cheers Gerry
Ah the volvo auto ventilation system. My window dissappeared into the bowels of the door when i was paying the toll on the tay bridge. Of course it was one of those nights with horizontal rain and a gale force wind. I could have done with another set of windscreen wipers on the inside. One of the more bracing car trips I've had of late. All three amazon's I've owned have done exactly the same thing at the most inoportune moments. I was thinking about fitting bigger pulley wheels inside the door. I have spare ones from a cinema curtain track with bigger lip so I'm going to try and fit them before the weather gets too grim.
Happened to me when I was driving my new purchase home from Brighton. Except mine did it with no provocation, whilst driving along.... Kerdunk - smash. At 65MPH. Duck tape, I love you...................
