I used sonar to align some midi tracks to peaks of an old audio file recorded with no click track. I did this in sonar since there is a function that allows you do do this called audiosnap. Now the midi tempo matches the uneven audio track. The tempo slightly changes from bar to bar. I then deleted the audio track and exported the midi tracks as a midi file Now I want to do some real work on it .. time for Reaper! Reaper imported all the tracks but there was no tempo change. So after putting back in the audio track it was again a bit out of sync. There were two import options and i tried them both. One option had a "1.1" in it but i don't remember exactly what it said. Is it possible to import into Reaper a midi file with these embedded tempo changes like I just described and manage to keep the changes intact? Thanks Super K

Multi-track (type 1) MIDI files can contain tempo tracks. When you drag a type 1 MIDI file into Reaper, it should prompt you for whether or not you want to import the tempo map as well. If you're exporting MIDI files from another app, check to see if there are options for exporting a tempo map, or exporting type 1 vs type 0 MIDI. (Exporting type 1 MIDI from Reaper will be supported in the next release.)

I saved as a midi type 1 file so all the tracks were separate. Two options were available. Option (one) To expand the tracks (which i did to keep each track separate. The other option (two) was to "Merge MIDI tempo map to project tempo at 1.1.00 I checked the first option to keep separate tracks. I tried "checking" option 2 and again tried "not checking "option two. Still had the same results. The tempo played without changing. Hopefully there is an easy fix! Thanks Super K

Country Kristen.....I just grabbed a midi in Sonar and changed the tempo a half dozen times and saved it as a type 1 and opened Reaper and drug it in and it opened the tempo map too. Go back into Sonar and go to the View menu and look for Tempo and check whether there are tempo changes in there. In Reaper....make the Master visible in the track view and you should see the tempo map (which you can modify). If you don't see it press the trm button on the track and see if it's enabled.

Brad ....thanks. Went to sonar and made sure I saved it the right way and looked at the tempo map. I never really knew about this map. Then after moving it into reaper i found the the trm button and made the tempo lines visible. I didn't know about this either. AMAZING. It worked. And if I can adjust the tempo even more manually, i should be able to smooth out (beatwise) some of the almost silent pauses within the song. I could swear I did this before and it didn't work. Now all reaper needs is an audiosnap function like sonar But it is still my all time favorite. and will be forever and ever amen! Super K
